Your Work Too

Matthew 7:16 – 20
But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish–the very works that I do–bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me. (John 5:36).

Jesus says, “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?” (Matthew 7:16). Friend, we must let our work bear witness to the power of God in our lives.

We must not speak one thing and do another. Jesus condemned hypocrisy in the Pharisees and Scribes of His days. He says, “Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.” (Matthew 23:3).

We must be Christians through and through. Let us take advantage of the power of the Holy Spirit to help us do our work well and live right. Jesus went about doing good. We should do the same. “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil…” (Acts 10:38).

In another place Jesus says, “…The works which the Father has given Me to finish-the very works that I do – bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me” (John 5:36). His work became a witness that the father sent Him.

May our work be a witness to the power and the influence of God’s Spirit in our lives in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
