You Need A Naomi

Ruth 2:1-3
Naomi replied, “All right, my daughter, go ahead.” (Ruth 2:2b, NLT).

While meditating on this chapter, the Holy Spirit drew my attention to today’s focal text. I was made to understand that not only do we need to meet a Boaz, we also need to have men and women who are willing to serve as our support and encourager.

Although, God gave Ruth the idea to go out and look for work so that they could live and begin the journey to recovery, she needed a Naomi to agree with her and support her vision without which she might have struggled to overcome the stigma of being a widow and a foreigner. But with Naomi’s stamp of approval and faith, her fears were dealt with.

Friend, we need Naomis in our lives too. These are men and women of God, counselors and advisers we could share our dreams with and run our ideas by. No one is an island and God has created us to function as a community to enjoy the support and encouragement of one another.

Equally, we must be prepared to be a “Naomi” for others. By so doing, the body of Christ will not lack wisdom as well as men and women who will stand to encourage one another. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • In what state are you now? Do you need a Naomi?
  • Has the Lord groomed you to serve as a Naomi in other people’s lives? Are you willing to take on this role? Talk to God.

Song: We give You all the glory.
