Worship Service By Design

Psalm 122:1- 9
I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD.”(Psalm 122:1).

Extending the thoughts we shared yesterday, I will add that there is a need for our ministers and church leaders to embrace the principle of worship by design and be intentional about the way we structure our services.

Our services must focus on preparing the congregation for an encounter with God.  Everything we do must be geared towards connecting with God. This requires that we plan the service and eliminate unnecessary and time-wasting activities from the order of worship.

It also means that the worship leaders must be adequately prepared and plan the service appropriately. When we are led by the Lord in our preparations, we would have fewer surprises during the worship service. Sometimes we say, “As the spirit leads” because we have not prepared well. Skill and the Spirit must work together for us to have an exceptional, God-focused and God- encountered service.

I am still amazed at how many services are conducted with less focus on worship, prayer and the word. Jesus says, “My house shall be called the house of prayers”. Let us remain focused on this.  People will attend church service when it is focused on these important elements.

The Psalmist says, “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD’” (Psalm 122:1). May this be our experience in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Your Turn

  • In what way can you support your church to prepare for a God- encountered service?
  • Are you serving in any department in your church?
  • Pray and ask the Lord to step in and revive your church.

Song: We bow down and worship Yahweh.
