What Is Your Goal?

Colossians 2:1-5
My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding … (Colossians 2:2, NIV).

The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines the word “goal” to mean, something that you are trying to do or achieve. It relates to purpose. In a business context, a goal is an observable and measurable result you want to achieve within a time frame.

For example, when I write the devotional, I usually have writing targets per day. This helps me to measure my progress. It gives me an idea of when I am likely to get it ready for the production team.

I said all of this to ask you a question: What is your goal for the  next half of the year? What do you want to achieve in the next 180 days of your life? Do you have a monthly goal? Do you have a spiritual growth plan? Do you have a dream you want to realise? Without a goal, your time and energy will not be focused and you will eventually aim at nothing.

Paul says, “My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding (Colossians 2:2). He knew the power of goal and result. Friend, with goals we can achieve our dreams and the desires that God has placed in our hearts. Remember, without goals you have nothing to pursue in life. Think on these things.

Your Turn

  • Talk to God about your dreams and the goals that you have set to achieve them.
  • Pray for the grace you need.
