What Is Open Heaven?

Psalm 115:1-18
The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men (vs.16).

Today, we will begin our meditation on the topic, Open

Heaven. What is Open Heaven? What does this mean to us as believers? Is it possible for the heaven to be closed to someone? These and many more are questions we would answer as we learn from the Lord.

Let us look at some definitions. The word, “open,” as an adjective means:

  1. Not closed, locked, or blocked up; allowing access.
  2. Unenclosed, unconfined, unobstructed e.g. it is an open road; open views.
  3. Uncovered, bare, exposed, undisguised and, public;
  4. Accessible or to make accessible.

On the other hand, “heaven” means, “a place regarded in some religions as the abode of God and the angels, and of the blessed after death”. It  also means “a place or state of supreme bliss, delightful thing”.

From the above, “Open Heaven” means an unblocked and unclosed access to where God lives, which is heaven. We could also say that it is an unrestricted access to a state of supreme bliss. From today’s passage, we understand that if the heavens are open, we will have access to the treasures God has in heaven and we will be blessed.

May the God of heaven speak to us as He opens the heaven and cause us to soar to a higher level in our walk with Him in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
