What Have You Heard?
Habakkuk 3:1-7
LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O LORD. Renew them in our day (Habakkuk 3:2, NIV).
I love the New Living Translation’s rendition of today’s focal text. It reads thus: “I have heard all about you, LORD. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by” (Habakkuk 3:2, NLT).
The Bible says Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Therefore, what He did in the past that we read in the Bible, He can do them again. What He did in the life of Naomi, Ruth and Boaz, He can do the same in your life. God is rich unto all and He will not hoard His blessings from us. Your case will not be different. God cannot lie. He will come through for you. He is a refuge to His people. He offers them help when they are in need.
Reading further in the passage, you would see how the prophet recounts the majestic moves and the power that God displayed to save the Israelites from trouble. God will rise and fight for you.
But you need to know what He has done in the past. The best way to do that is to look into the Scriptures. Be informed about how He healed the sick, caused the barren to become the mother of
children etc. If God has done it before, then He will do it again.
Friend, today’s question is: What have you heard about the Lord? What testimony have you heard others share that you would love the Lord to do in your life? If there is any, then it is time to pray, asking the Lord to bless you too.
Your Turn
- Pray for yourself based on what you have heard God do in the past.
