We Do It All Times
Psalm 34:1-3
I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth (Psalm 34:1).
If you are like me, I know you may have struggled with the Bible verse that says, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Yet, that is what the Lord wants us to do. But how can I do this with all honesty?
I found the answer when I understood that praising God in everything and at all times is for my benefit. When I choose to praise God whether in good or bad times, I am doing the following:
- Protecting my heart from fear, doubt and sorrow so that the enemy does not come and sow the seed of hopelessness in it.
- It helps me to focus on the goodness of God and His past faithfulness in my life. Since God has helped and delivered me in the past He will surely do it again (see Hebrews 13:5).
- It helps me to boast in the Lord and to let the whole world know that God is my source and help.
Praising God is not just for me, it serves as a witness to others and they will praise Him with me. “My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together” (Psalm 34:2-3). May the King of kings give you a reason to praise Him today. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Ask the Lord to help you boast in Him.
- Pray and ask the Lord for the help you need.
