Luke 12:54-56
Then He also said to the multitudes, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is” (Luke 12:54).

Another reason for this study is so that we can understand the spiritual weather. In the passage we read, Jesus
scolded his hearers, “Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?” (Luke 12:56).

We cannot afford to be like them. We must discern the time we are living in. It is no longer right for us to say the evil and the increasing rate of crime, killings, terrorist attacks, religious and communal conflicts and sin that we see in our society are normal. No! We must discern what these happenings and information are telling us.

To allow ourselves to be deceived that there is no end in view is absurd. If we say that then we are hypocrites too. It means  we are not living out what we know and believe. It means we are not Bible believing because the Scriptures have already told us about these things in advance.

We must discern the time to know that the days are evil. We must discern the time like the men of Issachar, so we can know what to do and how to live. This is the major goal of this quarter’s devotional topic. It is my prayer that the Lord would grant us understanding; draw our hearts to deeper study of His word in Jesus Name. Shalom.
