The Year To Be Wise
Matthew 10:16-26; James 1:17
Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16).
Friend, I believe the wisdom of God is available to us because we have Christ living in us. The Bible says, “In whom (Christ) are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 3:3).
With Christ as the wisdom of God, you have access to the wisdom we need because all things are yours (See 1
Corinthians 1:30; 1 Corinthians 3:21). Therefore, make 2019 a year to be wise.
For example, we need wisdom and discernment to know what to do and how to do it. We need wisdom to know how to live right and please the Lord. We need wisdom to know who to vote for and not vote for. We need wisdom to know how to answer in diverse situations.
The Bible says, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves” (Matthew 10:16).We must be wise. Wisdom will guide and guard our actions. We need wisdom as “the ability to judge correctly and to follow the best cause of action, based on knowledge and understanding” in this season.
As believers, we cannot afford to be stupid. Let us seek the Lord for the wisdom that we need (James 1:5). May the Lord help us as we think on these things. Let us pray.
Your Turn
- Pray and ask to be filled with the spirit of wisdom and discernment.
