The Ultimate Goal
2 Corinthians 4:7-11
We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us (2 Corinthians 4:7).
Friend, the ultimate goal of our faith in God and living within the three fulcrum of faith, love and hope is so that “the life of Christ may be manifested in our body” (2 Corinthians 4:10). The Scriptures make us to understand that our desire should be to glorify God because we have been bought with a price by Him. See 1 Corinthians 6: 20.
The ultimate purpose of living and servicing God is so that our life may show the excellent power of God that is at work in us. No wonder the Scripture says, “We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7).
I seem to hear someone ask why all of these? Well, I believe we need to remind ourselves from time to time of these truths so that we are not discouraged or be filled with pride as the Lord uses us.
We need to live in the consciousness that all we do is in line with the word of God: our work produced by faith, our labour prompted by love and our endurance of unfavorable circumstances and sufferings inspired by hope in Christ Jesus. May the Lord fill our hearts with more understanding of the truth in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
