The Safest Place
Psalm 73:1-28
But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the
Sovereign LORD my shelter, and I will tell everyone about
the wonderful things you do (Psalm 73:28, NLT).
Friend, no matter what life has dealt us; the safest place to be is under the shadow of the Almighty. When we are there, God will be our shelter and we will be saved. The best place to be is in the will of God. When you are doing what God led you to do, you will be at peace. The storm may be raging outside but within you know that God is with you and He is pleased with you.
The psalmist says, “But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do” (Psalm 73:28, NLT). He recognized that being near the Lord will cause him to hear Him. Being near God will cause him to enjoy the protection of the Lord. Friend, let this be our desire and aspiration as we round off on this quarter’s topic.
Like the psalmist, we will receive help and the counsel of the Lord as we choose to draw closer to Him and remain in Him. God is pleased when we do this. He writes, “You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny” (Psalm 73:24, NLT). I am looking to the Lord to lead me to a glorious destiny. The same awaits you. Let us endeavor to practise what we have learned and the Lord will bless us. Shalom.
