The Birth Of Jesus

Luke 1:26-38
And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you … therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”
Luke 1:35

Jesus’ birth and purpose were clearly stated in the message of Angel Gabriel. He told Mary:

“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end”.
(Luke 1:31 33).

Prophet Isaiah also prophesied, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder” (Isaiah 9:6). What does this mean?

  1. It means that Christ is not an ordinary man. He is a messenger from the Lord.
  2. His birth was unique because He was the Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Ghost.
  3. His assignment is clear. His government shall not end, and He will sit on the throne of David to establish
    righteousness.
  4. He is the Son of the Highest and He will be great. There is no denying of this fact.
  5. He will save us from our sins. Matthew 1:21.

Friend, this is Jesus and His purpose. Do we have another human being with such a divine mandate? Has anyone else been sent to save us from our sins? This truth we must hold dearly. Shalom.
