Taught To Love

1 Thessalonians 4:9
Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.

T

he story in Luke 10:29-37 shows that the Good Samaritan loved himself and loved his neighbor too. We were not told if he loved the Lord but we have been taught so we can love the Lord and love our neighbor too.

Paul  writes, “Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other” (1 Thessalonians.4:9). Before Jesus left He told us, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another” (John 13:34).

It means this is what the Lord wants from us. Our motive for every action should be borne out of love for God. It should be to demonstrate God’s love for one another. We are to become God’s ambassadors to others. Our hands and feet should become His tools to love His world more and more.

Friend, this is the journey we are on. We cannot run away from it. We must represent Him well and let the world know what being a Christian is about. It seems we are failing in this but I also believe there is room for improvement. Let the Lord find us a useful vessel.

May the Lord indeed help us to love and become who He wants us to be. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Praise God for the opportunity we have to improve in our walk with God.
  • Pray that the Lord will help you as you call on Him for help.

Song: Jesus, You take the highest place.
