Spiritual Maturity
Hebrews 5:12-14
But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses
exercised to discern both good and evil.
Hebrews 5:14
Spiritual maturity is another reason we want to study the life of Jesus Christ. The writer of the book of Hebrews says, “Solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14). It is time to exercise spiritually.
Why? One of my reasons is that the results of the lives of many believers do not show that we are mature in the
faith. Our lives do not show the evidence that we know the power of resurrection and the covenant benefits that
belong to us in Christ Jesus. We live and act as weaklings because we lack knowledge of the word of God and the
power of attorney that Jesus has given us. See Luke 10:19.
This lack of spiritual maturity and knowledge of Christ is the reason many of us visit places of worship that carry
out practices that are contrary to the word of God. It is the reason we subject ourselves to manipulations, spiritual
control, witchcraft and fraud from false teachers and prophets. May God deliver our generation from idolatry and perversion.
Let us seek the Lord and His word. Let us study to be grounded and established in the righteousness of God.
Shalom.
