Sin Will Dim The Light
Isaiah 59:1-3
Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God (Isaiah 59:1-2).
Many years ago, Jimmy and I had an argument following our band rehearsal. I felt offended and being the older one, I expected him to apologize to me. Well, I went home. But I knew all was not well.
As I prepared the next morning for service, I had to deal with the offence in prayer or be unhappy and disgruntled. That is not a good thing for a worship team. I asked the Lord for mercy and forgiveness. Guess who met me on arrival at the church? It was Jimmy. Sighting me he shouted, “Sister Yet (That is a shortform of my local name)”. We hugged, laughed over the incident and moved on. The service went well.
Friend, sin in all its form will hinder the flow of the spirit. It will have impact on your prayer life. It will also affect the strength and glory of the cluster anointing on a team. We need to be quick to forgive and let go of offences. We must be quick “forgivers” and “forgetters” so that we can maintain our spiritual cutting edge.
God’s arm is not short. His ability to speak and to lead us is not limited. Sin could dim our spiritual sight to see and discern the movement of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Let us deal with these hindrances and the Lord will amaze us with clear directions. Shalom.
