Sin Makes The Heaven Brass

Micah 6:9-16
Your eyes are too pure to gaze upon evil; and you cannot tolerate wickedness. (Habakkuk 1:13a, NIV).

Sin is defined as the breaking of divine or moral law, especially deliberately. It also means to commit an offence.

John Kilpatrick says, “Sin makes the heavens brass…sin thickens the heavens so that they eventually become hardened to our prayers, like brass is hardened and made resistant to fire and pressure. Sin separates us from the purity and openness of God’s provisions.” I agree.

Friend, God is not blind. He is only being patient and waiting for us to repent. He will not continue to keep the heaven open over our lives if we delight in sin. If we deal with sin as we ought to, confess and repent of it, we will attract God’s mercy. He will rend the heavens to pour down His abundant rain on us.

Nobody wants the judgments listed in our passage. Why must we plant and not harvest?  We definitely do not want God to fight us. The Bible says, “Therefore I will wound you! I will make your hearts miserable for all your sins” (Micah 6:13, TLB). What could be more miserable than to be cut off from the presence of God?

Friend, let us frown at what God frowns at, then we will not experience a closed heaven. Many have lost their respect in life and ministry through sin that they should not have played with.

We must match our life. Shalom.
