Signs Of Troubled Times

Daniel 6:1-27
Now, O king, establish the decree and sign the writing, so that it cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter. Therefore King Darius signed the written decree (Daniel 6:8-9).

Using the life of Daniel as a case study, we will explore the signs of troubled times in his days and relate it to our time.

  1. Ungodly laws: When the rest of the satraps (presidents), governors and administrators came together against
Daniel to enact ungodly laws, it was meant to pull him down. Many of us can bear witness to such laws in our cities, states and countries. These are signs that the forces of darkness are coming together to cause pain to the believers. Another example of ungodly law is also described in Daniel chapter 3, where the three Hebrew men refused to bow because they know idol worship was against their faith.
  2. Ungodly living: Daniel 5 reveals to us the life that Belshazzar, the King of Babylon lived. Yet, men like
Daniel and his friends remained faithful. Another example of ungodly living are those described in
2 Timothy 3:2-5: “For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control…. Having a form of godliness but denying its power.

Friend, whenever we see these signs, they are warnings. They are telling us that we are living in troubled times. It is time to guide our loins with the truth of God’s word and stand on it. Paul admonished, “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness” (Ephesians 6:14). Shalom.
