Sanitation In The Church
Revelation 3:1-6
Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you (Revelation 3:3).
The year 2017 is the year of sanitation. This will come in two dimensions.
Personal Sanitation: This requires that we take the Apostle John’s prophecy to the church of Sardis personal. It means we have to wake up and clean up our acts. We need to make sure that we are not deceiving ourselves by going to church when we do not know the Lord. We need to be sure that we are living in the will of God.
This is the challenge of today’s believer. We go to church, have stickers on our cars, doorposts, offices and houses but our lives do not match what we profess to be. The Lord says, “If you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you” (Revelation 3:3).
Church-wide Sanitation: I sense in my heart that the Lord will visit our churches and do a cleanup. Some leaders may have to step down, repent and begin to do the right thing. The days of greed or avarice among the leadership must come to an end. It is time to seek the Lord for the glory He wants to pour on the church.
Our God is looking for broken leaders and not empire building leaders. Let the sanitation begin with our own lives. Shalom.
