Robust Thanksgiving
1 Thessalonians 1:2
We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers (1 Thessalonians 1:2).
A robust thanksgiving and prayer is the one that goes beyond me, myself and I. It is one that includes others; focusing on what God has done for them and praying to God on their behalf. Many times we focus on thanking God for our own little life. We ought to do that and much more. We must pray for others too.
Paul and his friends wrote to the Thessalonians to let them know that they are part of their devotional life. He said, “We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers” (1 Thessalonians 1:2). It will be a joy to know that someone is doing this for us too.
Applying this to ourselves, let us make it a habit to thank God for our life, what He is doing in the lives of people around us and the wider church community. We should make mention of others and our nation in our prayers.
I acknowledge the importance of praying for others and making mention of them in my prayers. Those short prayers can make a difference. Our prayers could release an angel to lead them to their place of rest and deliverance.
Let us pay attention to one another and see what God is doing and thank Him for it. Let us pay attention to know what they need and pray for them. Shalom.
Your Turn
- In what ways can you apply today’s devotional message into your life?
- Ask the Lord to show you what He is doing around you and thank Him for it. Pray for your friends too.
