Return For A Reason
Ruth 1:6-7
Then Naomi heard in Moab that the LORD had blessed his people in Judah by giving them good crops again (Ruth 1:6, NLT).
Friend, in seeking to return we must be careful to know that it is what the Lord wants us to do. For Naomi, she was meant to go back home. For some of us the Lord may allow us to come face to face with our mistakes, repent of them and move on. That is, we may not need to go back.
This reminds me of the story of James who had a child by his girlfriend while he was an unbeliever. Many years later, having given his life to Christ, he felt the need to reconcile with the lady and his son. However, on reaching them, the lady had moved on. She was now married to another man and was doing well. In this case, James could not say the lady had to divorce her husband in order to marry him. There may be many cases like this.
However, some situations may be less complicated. The key thing to watch out for when you are thinking about returning to a place, situation, career, city or nation you have left in the past, is to look for the peace of God in your heart and His blessing.
Many times when God restores and leads you into a new season that relates to this story, there will be a blessing waiting for you there. Naomi returned in the season for the harvest. That is a sign of blessing. May the Lord teach more of His word. Amen.
