Relational Issues
Malachi 2:13-16
In God’s wise plan, when you married, the two of you became one person in his sight. (Malachi 2:15, TLB).
Our relationship with our spouse and children matters. It has something to do with closed or open heavens.
From the passage we read today, we could feel the pain in God’s heart concerning the state of the home. The media is full of stories of divorce, separation and marital unfaithfulness in the church. Dysfunctional homes have become the norm. Single parenting abounds, and now the hell-inspired issue of gay living has found its way into the church.
Yet, God is still in the business of seeking godly homes for children. It means we need to think about our relationship with our spouses and families if we want to live consistently under an open heaven. If we have erred, let us make amends. The Lord will help us.
Men are responsible for maintaining a good relationship with their wives. See 1 Peter 3:7. The devil knows that there is power in agreement so he seeks to make sure that things are not alright between couples. When this happens, we will find no one to trust or agree with, in order to break his yoke on our lives.
We must ensure that our traditions do not get in the way of God’s word. Let us go back to prayer and the word. Couples should pray and ask God to help them and their relationship.
Shalom.
