Rejoice In The Lord
Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! (Philippians 4:4, NIV).
In our passage, we could see that there is more to rejoicing than we see on the surface. The exhortation is that we should rejoice. The location or where is in the Lord. The duration is always. But you and I know that our experiences do not always provide us with the opportunity to rejoice always. So, what are we going to do?
I believe we will be able to rejoice always when we look at the text in a more holistic way. When we understand that rejoicing is about who God is, what He is doing in and around us, we will look for reasons to praise Him. Friend, our lives may not give us reasons to rejoice, but we can always find reasons to rejoice:
- When we hear the good news of what the Lord is doing in other people’s lives, we can choose to praise God and rejoice on their behalf. When a friend passes an examination, get a job, have a new baby and so on, we can rejoice and praise God for them.
- When we witness the power of God in creation and our world, we can rejoice. When we hear that someone has been delivered from trouble, that is a good enough reason to rejoice in the Lord.
- When God answers our prayers, that is a reason to rejoice.
Do you think you have a reason to praise God today? Yes, I think we all do.
Your Turn
- Look for ways you can rejoice in God’s marvelous work around you.
- Look into your life too and find a reason to rejoice in Him.
