Pray Against Your Enemy
2 Kings 19:20-34
Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying,
“Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard’ (2 Kings 19:12).
Another thing that I have observed in the Scriptures is that it is up to us to pray against our enemies. God gave us that duty. Sometimes what you do not tell God, He may not do anything about it. It is not because He does not care but because He has given us authority here on earth to deal with it.
He spoke through prophet Isaiah saying, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn” (Isaiah. 54:17). In Psalm 81:10, He said, “I am the LORD thy God… open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it” (Psalm 81:10). It means in case you do not know what to say, I will inspire you and let you know what to say.Friend, it is time to do our part so that God can do His part. When Hezekiah prayed against Sennacherib, God told him, “Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard”. God responded by telling Him what He would do. Did you see that?
Does God hear anything from you with regards to your enemies? A look at verses 35-37 told us what God did. It is my prayer that we will take this word seriously and begin to rule the way God intended for us. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Thank God for showing us our responsibility.
- Pray for the grace and boldness to do your part as required.
- Pray against your enemies.
