Our God And Father

1 Thessalonians 1:3
As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our
Lord Jesus Christ (New Living Translation).

Jesus told His disciples, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain…” (John 15:16). Friend, there is no greater affirmation in life than to know that God loves us and has chosen us for Himself.

Paul reminded his audience when he writes, “We know, dear brothers and sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people” (vs.4, NIV). The evidence of this love and choice includes:

  1. The gospel came to them. Many are yet to hear the gospel. We have heard and are saved. We ought to thank God for it. If they hear may be they would believe as we have and be saved.
  2. The gospel came to them in power. It means there was the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit like healing and work of deliverance when they heard the word in Acts Chapters 16 -18.
  3. The Holy Spirit helped them to believe through deep conviction of their sin and their need for a Savior. Salvation is a privilege not a right. We were privileged by God’s love to be saved and experience His grace.

What are we to do? We must thank God for loving us and choosing us to be His own.

Your Turn

  • Thank God for your salvation and the grace that is at   work in your life to live for Him.

Song:  O Lord my God when I in awesome wonder.
