Not Entirely Up To You
2 Corinthians 9:10-15
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer … In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you (2 Corinthians 9: 10, NLT).
Having watched James practice the principle of asking for seed to sow and share testimonies of how the Lord answers him, Grace decided to do the same. Her local church was raising funds for a conference. She asked the Lord for an amount to sow. Throughout the week she expected God to show up, nothing happened.
Late on Saturday evening, a friend passed by her house to say hello. On leaving she gave her an envelope. She ran into her room to check it and it was exactly the amount she had pledged, which was due for redemption on Sunday morning. She ran out and told her friend how God had just used her to answer her prayers. Both of them rejoiced and praised the Lord.
Friend, if God is the One who gives seed, then my commitment to give is not entirely up to me, it is up to God too. If He provides the seed, then I will have it to give. If He does not, then no one has the right to break the bank. The good news is that God always provides seed for those who would ask Him for it. The secret is to be willing to give when God gives you the seed.
The questions are: Can you recognize the seed God brings in answer to your prayers and are you willing to sow it as planned?
