My God, You Are Very Great
Psalm 104:1-35
Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty (Psalm 104:1).
I love to sing of God’s greatness. I love to praise the wonder of His grace and celebrate His goodness. When I see the wonders of God in His creation, how He made everything to stand in their place, my heart stand in awe of Him and bless His holy Name. When I hear about His goodness in the life of others, how He saved them and rescued them from the hands of the enemy, my heart resonates with praise.
Why do I praise Him? I praise Him because despite all the bad news we hear and negative events that are going on in the world, God is still good. He may not have infringed on our right of freedom to refrain us from harming one another, yet He has sustained creation so that the whole galaxy and cosmos does not fall apart.
Imagine if the heavens should fall now on all of us. We would be gone. But in His mercy, the grass continues to grow; the animals remained in the allotted places and the fishes continue to stay in their domain. Friend, let us follow the psalmist’s pattern and learn to see God in everything around us. His work is great. He deserved our praise. He has not hidden His face from us but continues to give us life and provide for our needs (see Psalm 104:29-30). Praise God for His greatness.
