My Destiny Is With You

Ruth 1:14-18
Your people will be my people, and your God will be my  God. May the LORD punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us (Ruth 1:16-17, NLT).

Ruth had a sense that her assignment and destiny were linked to her mother-in-law’s destiny. Whether by revelation or instinct, Ruth knew that if she was to live she had to go down to Bethlehem – the House of Bread, with Naomi.

She told Naomi, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!” (Ruth 1:16-17, NLT).

Friend, what a joy it would be if we all know what God has  called us to do or who God has called us to serve with and we respond to it in a positive way like Ruth did. John the Baptist knew he was not the Messiah but a voice and he stayed there. Paul knew he was called to minister to the Gentiles while Peter was called to do same to the Jews and they accepted their call. Their decision like Ruth led to a great work for God and humanity.

When we follow God’s leading, we will achieve great things for God. Have you found what God has assigned for you? Do you know whom the Lord has assigned you to walk with? When you do, you are on the path to fulfilling your destiny. Let us pray.

Your Turn

  • Think about your life and what you sense the Lord is leading you to?
  • Pray for clarity and the grace to be determined to obey like Ruth.
