More Lessons To Learn
Judges 4:6-10
Call out 10,000 warriors from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun at Mount Tabor. And I will call out Sisera … along with his chariots and warriors, to the Kishon River. There I will give you victory over him (Judges 4: 6-7, NLT).
My heart cries to God today as I think of how many opportunities we have missed and how many battles we have lost because we failed to listen to God for instruction that would grant us victory. How many of us can say that we have developed our hearing and discernment to the extent that we can hear God this clearly?
Some of us may argue that God does not do this in every case, Deborah could hear because she was a prophetess, hearing from God is her core gift. I agree, but my proposition is that God can lead us too. He can help us to develop our discernment of divine leadership through the inward witness and the still small voice of the Holy Spirit so that we too can know when God is saying go or wait.
Barak’s letter of commissioning assured him that God will give him the victory. His duty is: Assemble 10,000 men from Naphtali and Zebulon; be at River Kishon. The rest God will do. To confirm God’s word when he called the warriors, they were willing and the number of those that volunteered was 10,000. Only God can do that.
Friend, there is no short cut to hearing from God. In the kingdom, winners are listeners. Doers are the ones who get to the top and be who God wants them to be. Think on these things. Shalom.
