1 Thessalonians 4:1-8
It is God’s will that you should be sanctified; that you should avoid sexual immorality (1 Thessalonians 4:4).

The word of God is complete. That is why it is called the road map for life. In it we find instructions to live every day in the way that will bring glory to God. This is another reason that I love the Lord and His word.

From today’s passage, we could see that God has provided lifestyle instructions for us to live by. When we obey them our lives will be good. We will also live a blameless life that is pleasing to the Lord.

The goal of obedience to God’s instruction is “to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living” (1 Thessalonians 4:1a). It means we must move beyond being God chasers and seek to be God pleasers.

For example, today’s passage focuses on sexual purity. We are admonished to live a holy life because God wants us to be sanctified  and set apart for Him. We are to live in a way that is holy and honourable.

I believe if we make this our goal, not only in matters of sexual behavior but in every area of our lives, we will receive the Lord’s commendation. Are we living in a way that deserves God’s punishment or commendation? Let us pray.
