Lack Of Personal Worship

Psalm 95:1-11
O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. (Psalm 95:7).

Another cause of closed heaven is the absence of praise and worship on our lips.  As good as praying and studying the word of God are, they cannot replace worship. When we spend time praising and adoring God, the fruits of our lips telling Him how good He is,  God will smile on us.

In the Old Testament tabernacle, there was the blue flame which was kindled by God in the wilderness but must be sustained by men through worship. When the flame is burning, God’s presence is attracted. In the same way, worship keeps the blue flame glowing. If we want the heavens over us to be continually open, we must sustain worship. See Leviticus 6:12.

Tommy Tenney writes, “… if we are not carrying the ‘blue flame’, then God isn’t pleased.  And He’ll see to it that ‘flameless’ churches become as unimportant to men as they are to Him.  No ‘flame’ indicates no fire, which eventually results in barren buildings and hollow hearts …” I do not want this to happen in my life and my church.

When God no longer wants or favor you, you can be sure that your heaven has been shut or is closing. It is time to seek the Lord. Perhaps you have failed to give the glory due to Him. Remember, you are living with His breath in you! Be wise  worship God.

Your Turn

  • Worship the Lord and give Him the glory due to His Name.
  • Praise Him for who He is and what He has done for you.

Hymn: Immortal, Invisible God only wise.
