Know The Truth
1 Peter 1:1-12
…an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation … (1 Peter 1:4-5).
The only thing that would destroy error is truth. We must know the truth and be willing to use it to test every teaching, concept, ideologies and messages we hear. We cannot afford to be passive on this matter.
The believer must actively engage their mind and bring to bear the truth they know on every new doctrine or message they hear or are not familiar with. John the Apostle tells us how. “Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1).
Individual believer must take responsibility for it. Your pastor, Sunday school teacher and house fellowship or small group leader may not be there when the enemy will confront you with truth mixed with lies to persuade you.
Since what we have is valuable to us, we must guard it jealously. We have “an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation” (1 Peter 1:4-5).
Do not forget: Only biblical and theological truth can confront, heal the error and moral decadence in our churches and society. To be passive on this issue is to allow evil to continue to thrive. Shalom.
