Judgment On Our Excesses

Isaiah 5: 8-30.
Woe to those who join house to house; they add field to field, till there is no place Where they may dwell alone in the midst of the land!
Isaiah 5:8.

We stand in awe of the Holy God. We stand amazed at the power of His word and how it continues to speak to us in
our time.

The prophet declares, “Woe to those who join house to house; they add field to field, till there is no place where they may dwell alone in the midst of the land!” (Isaiah 5:8). Avisit to the capital of my nation and the commercial city will convince you that we have built houses with no occupants in them.

We see the wide gap between the rich and the poor. Is God not saying something to us? Looking at verses 20 -22, we see the replica of some of our leaders. We know those who call evil good and good evil. We know many who think that their policies and ideas are the best. May the Lord have mercy on us in Jesus Name.

What are we today? We must acknowledge our sin and that of our leaders. Daniel and Nehemiah did not point accusing fingers on their people. Rather, they stood in the gap and prayed for their land. Queen Esther did not say, “I am safe in my husband’s palace”. No! She prayed and fasted for her people and God answered.

If we will repent of our own sins and stand for the land, the Lord will hear us. Shalom.
