Jesus’ Promise Of Eternal Life
John 5:24-30
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death
into life (John 5:24, NASB).
Sometimes I wonder if the struggle we have in our faith is because of the simplicity of the gospel. It seems that until something is complicated we do not think that it would work or believe it is true.
Jesus’ word is very clear. He said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life” (John 5:24). That is His word. He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). He cannot lie.
The question I should ask myself is: “Do I qualify for these blessings? Have I heard His word and do I believe what He said?” If I do, then I should rest my faith and hope in His word and believe that I have eternal life and I would not come into Judgment. My faith in Jesus has moved me out of death into life.
Remember, “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:12). Friend, since this is what Jesus and His word said, then let us believe Him and be confident in our faith in Him. Let us rejoice in the fact that we have eternal life. May the Lord help our unbelief in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Thank God for the simplicity of His word and the joy it brings to us.
- Pray for yourself as you talk to God about any area of doubt in your faith and walk with Him.
