Intentional Witness

John 18:37; Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (Acts 1:8).

Friend, the power we receive is for witnessing. We are filled with the Holy Ghost and empowered by God to bear witness to the name of Jesus, the saving power in His name and the salvation He has procured for mankind through His death on the cross and resurrection.

Anything short of this is a reflection that we are failing in our assignment. The Bible says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Our assignment is to be a witness in our family, community, city and the world at large. For me, my community includes my circle of influence at home, work, church, and wherever I find myself. I must conduct myself well.  I must dress right, live right and testify to the saving grace in Christ Jesus.

Jesus testified before Pilate saying “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice” (John 18:37). Friend, Jesus is who He says He is. Let us witness to the truth. Amen.

Your Turn

  • Thank God for this word.
  • Pray for the grace to be a witness and to do it with joy, without fear and shame.

Song: Lord, I lift Your name on high.
