I Know Whom I Believe

2 Timothy 1:8-12
I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day (2 Timothy 1:12).

The more we know who we believe and what He has done for us, the more confident we will be to live as He intended for us to live.

Although faced with many challenges and several sufferings, Paul remained confident and continued to serve God through the preaching of the gospel. He did this because He knew whom he believed. He has entrusted his life to Christ. He was sure that God will not fail him.

Paul’s action looks like that of someone who heard what Jesus said in John 10:28-29 and knew that nothing can snatch him away from God’s able hand. He said, “I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day” (2 Timothy 1:12). That is assurance and security in action.

Finally, Paul reminded us that the reason why we need to be confident is that God was the one who started it. He said, God “has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” (2 Timothy 1:9). If God did it, He will sustain it.

May the Lord bless your heart for taking the time to partake of this study. Shalom.
