I Believe

John 14:1-7
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you (John 14:2).

I seem to hear someone ask, “How can you be so sure that what the Bible says is true? How do you know that the account of the death and resurrection you have read is true when there has been so much debate about Jesus’ resurrection?  He is even perceived as a god or prophet and not the Son of God whom He claimed to be?”

First, I believe because the light of the gospel has shone on my heart and I have given my heart to Jesus. I believe Him because He said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” (vs. 2). If the words He spoke  about Himself, His father and heaven were not true, He would have said so. No other prophets or leaders have said the things that Jesus said.

Second, when Jesus said, “I am coming back;” I believe Him because when He told them He would rise again those who did not believe discovered that it was true. Even when Thomas doubted His resurrection, Jesus appeared to Him and his doubts were resolved.

Third, I believe because God cannot lie. He has no reason to do so. He is God. See Numbers 23:19. Do you now believe with me? Let us pray.

Your Turn

  • Thank God for the truth of His word.
  • Thank Him for the assurance we have in His word about who Jesus Christ is.

Song: He is Lord, He is Lord. Amen.
