Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Jesus’ earthly parents were an unusual couple. Knowing she was already engaged to Joseph, Mary accepted the
divine assignment. She told the angel,“Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her (Luke 1:38). She damned the consequences of her acceptance. She believed God would take care of the rest.

Joseph, also being a man of integrity, did not want to embarrass or subject her to public shame and possible stoning to death. He planned to break the engagement secretly but God intervened. The Bible says, “But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 1:20). That is amazing.

All this happened so that the prophecies, given many years ago, might be fulfilled. See Isaiah 9:6-7. Friend, the Savior we are called to believe in has no equal. The One who called us to follow Him is God. Let us seek Him, know Him, and follow Him. Let us be bold to say we are His. Let us not be deceived by the diverse world views. The way of Christ is the authentic and only way to the Father. Shalom.
