He Will Not Rest

Ruth 4:1-18
Boaz went to the town gate and took a seat there. Just then the family redeemer he had mentioned came by … So they sat down together (Ruth 4:1, NIV).

Boaz was a type of Christ because of the role he played in this book. He was a helper and a kinsman redeemer. He did not rest until he made sure that he fulfilled his promise to Ruth. Boaz did not go back on his word. Instead of going home in the morning to have a good sleep, this man of integrity and faith went to the city gate where decisions were taken.

Looking at verse 1, I personally believe that the appearance of the close relative at the city gate was not a coincidence. Again, it is the divine Master at work. We were not told if he was invited, but many Bible translations suggest that he just happened to pass by the gate at the time he was needed.

The verses reminded me of Psalm 121. God does not rest. He will not sleep nor slumber until He makes sure that we are protected and provided for. If God could take interest in a Moabitess who had come to take refuge under His wings, how much more would He take interest in those of us who have believed in Him through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Let faith arise in your soul. Believe that the same God who supernaturally intervened in Ruth’s case, will intervene in your case too. Do not lose hope, only believe. Shalom.
