He Provides Long Life

2 Kings 20: 1-7; Psalm 21:1-4
Then he …prayed to the Lord, saying, “Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in
Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly (2 Kings 20: 2-3).

I love God and I love His word. I also love His people and the way they related to Him in the Bible. Many times I have been challenged about the way these men and women related to God and maximized their covenant with Him as the seed of Abraham.

We all need the kind of favor and faith that Hezekiah had with God. When the enemy came to his city and challenged him, he prayed and God heard him. He fought for him. When he fell ill, he prayed again and God changed his mind. He added  more years to his life. That is the favor and the mercy of God combined.

Friend, we need this type of favor and open heaven,  so that before we finish praying God would have answered us as He promised in Isaiah 65:25. God wants to give us long life. David asked him for it and he gave him. He testified in Psalm 21:2.

I do not know where we got it wrong, but I think we can right the wrong if we will develop a fresh hunger for God and for His word. If we will pray and ask God to teach us His ways, we will experience Him as the God of the Bible. Shalom.
