Grow In Grace

2  Peter  3:14-18
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord  and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).

When we look at all we have learnt and meditated upon in the last few days, we could see that it all points to one direction: The need for spiritual growth. In essence, it is a call to grow in grace and develop ourselves to stand firm in the truth that we know and in sound doctrine.

When we know the word of God, we will have access to the truth that is in it. When we pray we will increase our discernment so that we can pray more and withstand by faith any wrong doctrine that could be spreading through false teachers around us.

When we seek to remain in God’s love and show love to others, we are fulfilling the greatest commandment to love. When we look towards God’s mercy, we will experience His favor and love at all times. This is good.

In concluding his second epistle, Peter encouraged his readers to remain diligent and to be spotless as they look to God’s salvation. He advised them to beware and watch out for error of the wicked. To do this, he told them, “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”.

This is the beginning and the conclusion of the need to prepare for war against error. May the Lord keep us strong in the pursuit of Him. Shalom.
