God Has A Reason

Luke 1:26-38
And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus (Luke 1:31).

As the whole world prepares to celebrate Christmas, we need to remind ourselves of the purpose of the celebration. When Adam and Eve sinned at the beginning, they were judged and made to lose their dwelling place.

Part of the judgment included the promise of a Messiah, who will save mankind from the hand of satan and sin. It is this promise that God chose to fulfill in Christ Jesus. He said, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel” (Genesis 3:15).

Jesus is the Seed of the woman. The angel told Joseph, “You shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew1:21). In addition, He will restore the kingdom of God. “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever” (Isaiah 9:7).

Friend, Christmas is not a time for festivities only. It is a time to appreciate God for His faithfulness to mankind. It is a time to praise Him for being the Covenant – keeping God. The reason for Christmas is our salvation. Praise God for it. Shalom.
