False Accusation
Daniel 6:11-17
Then the officials went together to Daniel’s house and found him praying and asking for God’s help. So they went straight to the king and reminded him about his law (Daniel 6:11, NLT).
I am sure we agreed that Daniel was ‘falsely accused’. His praying to the Almighty God, the God of the Jews, only became a sin after the unjust law was enacted.
The chapter reads like a drama, yet it was real. Imagine your friends and colleagues ganging up against you at work to put you down. That’s exactly what happened to Daniel. The Bible says, “Then the officials went together to Daniel’s house and found him praying and asking for God’s help. So they went straight to the king and reminded him about his law” (Daniel 6:11, NLT).
Many of us have already experienced it. More of these experiences will happen. Daniel’s three friends went through the same thing in Daniel Chapter 3. They were set up. They refused to bow down to an image. God vindicated them. Even Jesus was accused by the Jews and the leaders of His days. He went to the cross partly because He was wrongly accused.
Paul, the Apostle, and the rest of the disciples were falsely accused in their time. Will it be different in our time? I am not sure. What are we to do? Get knowledge and know the time we are living in. Pursue right and holy living. God will be there to support us and grant us the victory. He did it for Daniel and his friends; He will do it for us. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Have you been falsely accused in the past? Ask for grace to forgive the injustice done to you.
- Have you falsely accused a believer in the past? Ask the Lord for forgiveness and ask the person too.
- Ask for grace and pray for yourself to live in love and walk in holiness.
Hymn: There is not a friend like the lowly Jesus.
