Faith Is A Risk
Luke 1: 26-55
Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
Luke 1:34.
As we round off our topic, I would like to say that from a human perspective, faith is a risk. To those who are yet to receive a clear biblical understanding of God’s faithfulness and the reliability of His word, the journey of faith is a risky one to take.
The word risk has been defined as a chance of loss or injury; hazard; danger. As a verb, it means to be exposed to
possible danger. Its synonyms include danger, hazard, are in the One who cannot fail or lead us into danger.
We may look stupid to those who are watching, but we know we will incur no loss believing Him. When Angel
Gabriel visited Mary, she agreed to become the mother of Jesus. Who has ever seen a lady carry a pregnancy without
knowing a man? It was dangerous but she took the risk. Why? She heard the word of the Lord and believed.
By faith, she said: Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word (vs.38). She staked her
faith on the One to whom nothing is impossible. If faith is a risk, then I am ready to take as many because I cannot
afford to remain where I am. My next level is waiting for me; my destiny is calling. How about you?
