Do Something

Samuel 17:26- 37;
David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (1 Samuel 17:26, NIV).

Friend, God’s anointing on our lives responds to certain situations, callings and challenges. We are never gifted and anointed to remain on the shelf and serve no purpose. The footballers on the bench are reserved for a purpose. Their appearance on the football pitch many times has been a game changer for their team.

You have been anointed for a purpose. Are you willing to stand up and serve when the coach, Jesus Christ, calls you? What are you doing with your gifts and skills? What are you doing with the talents and experiences that God has allowed you to gain over the years? It is time to leave the bench, enter the pitch and win the game for the Lord.

When David appeared at the valley of Elah where they drew the battle line with the Philistines, something stirred up in him. It was the anointing. He knew he could do something about the situation. He had been trained in the wilderness. He asked, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel?” (1 Samuel 17:26a). The rest is history.

Friend, we know we must do something, but we failed to act. Today, consider your life and pray for the willingness to do something with the anointing and experience that God has given you. You will be glad you did. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Thank God for the confidence He has in us to use us.
  • Pray for yourself that you will not deny the Lord.
