Diverse Worldviews

Ephesians 4:4-6
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;  one Lord, one faith, one baptism (Ephesians 4:4-5).

The proliferation of diverse world views is another reason we need to stand by the Christian worldview and defend it with the word of God. In our time several world views have become popular. Among these are humanism, post-modernism and theism. We will look at two of them.

The post-modernists believe that reality must be interpreted through the cultural paradigms of the people and it is socially constructed. Values are conceived as part of the society. It supports tolerance, freedom of expression and inclusion. Believers who lean towards this belief preach tolerance of other religion with less emphasis on salvation being found only in Christ.

Christianity, Judaism and Islam all practice theism. This world view believes that there is an infinite and personal God. Its proponents believe that God and demons are real and the spirit has influence on the natural. Moral values are perceived to be an offshoot of an absolute moral being.

Christian theism, however, believes in one God and trust Him to transform us through the power of the Holy Spirit.  His word and laws guide our moral values and how we live life.

Friend, here is what we preach and believe: “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit” (1Peter 3:18). Let us preserve  it. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Pray for yourself as you ponder on what you believe.
  • Pray for me and my family that we will continue to stand for the truth of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Song: Lord, I lift Your name on high.
