Count Your Blessings

Psalm 126:1-6
Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy
(Psalm 126:5, NLT).

As we round off the first chapter of the book of Ruth, let us pause and think about how good the Lord has been to us.  We may not be where we want to be, but we are definitely not where we used to be.

May be you have experienced similar situation as Naomi and you see no reason why you should rejoice. Take courage for weeping may endure for a night, joy will come in the morning (see Psalm 30:5). The word of God cannot be broken. I believe that God will come to your aid in due season and you will have a reason to sing again.

The Israelites were in captivity for many years. God told them to build houses and marry because their captivity will be for long. They despaired and could not sing the Lord’s song in a strange land. A day came and God remembered them. He raised King Cyrus to declare their independence and the people were allowed to go home (see Ezra 1).

That was the story behind the Psalm that we read today. It is my prayer that God will remember you and cause you to sing a new song of praise and thanksgiving to Him. Those who see ou will rejoice that the Lord has done great things for you and that is why you are rejoicing. While we wait, let us count our blessings and give God all the glory for where we are. Shalom.
