Confidence For Ever

Isaiah 32:17
And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence for ever (Isaiah 32:17, ASV).

Meditating on our focal text, I noticed the word, “assurance”. Some translations read “confidence”. To be confident is to trust, have assurance, belief in oneself or in the trustworthiness of a person. I asked myself, how will the effect of salvation and the righteousness that I received in Christ Jesus boost my confidence forever? Pondering on these, I have these thoughts to share:

1. Because righteousness produces internal and external peace, I can have faith and be quiet as I face and manage the affairs of life. This peace will further boost my confidence level because I know whose I am and who I am.

2. I am confident because I know God loves me and is in charge of my life. Nothing can harm me without his permission. The Bible says, “Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered” (Matthew 10:29-30). Knowing that I am important to God boosts my confidence and outlook on life. In the end everything will be okay.

3. Because His righteousness is changing me, my attitude to life and perception of my circumstances are being affected. I do not look at life from a victim’s perspective. Rather I look at it from a  victor’s perspective because Christ has overcome for me (John 16:33).

Meditate on these words, the Lord will speak to you more. Shalom.

Your Turn
