Genesis 28:16 – 17
Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.”(Genesis 28:16).

Today, we will explore some of the characteristics of open heaven to know if we are living in it. It would also help us to understand what we are to expect as we pray for it.

Revelation:  This relates to the revelation of God’s glory, presence and power in our lives. When the Lord opens the heaven for someone or a group of people, He will reveal Himself to them. These could be through dreams, visions and uncommon revelation of divine truths in the word of God. The fire of revelation will burn in your heart. Your love for God, joy and inner peace would increase. Your love for the word of God would also increase.

Sometimes, these revelations may come in the form of greater depths of insights that would lead you to another level of walk with God and spiritual authority as your eyes of understanding is being enlightened by the Lord. Paul understood this when he prayed to the Father, “that the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling” (Ephesians 1:17-18).

Angelic visitation and outpouring of the revelation gifts are also characteristics of an open heaven. It is my prayer that we would be alert to these things and know that God has visited us and blessed us with an open heaven. Shalom.
