Ask For The Seed
2 Corinthians 9:1-15
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread
for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown
and increase the fruits of your righteousness
(2 Corinthians 9: 10).
James is a dear Christian brother. He is an advocate of sowing according to what God has provided for us. If you approach him for financial help, he will tell you that he would ask God for the seed if he does not have the money to give you on the spot. He believes that if the Lord wants to use him in any situation, He will provide the seed. Through this principlehe has been a source of blessing to many in the fellowship.
Friend, when we make commitment to become sowers, God will give the seed. He will provide the money you need to sow. Many times we have failed to give because we are unaware that we are meant to ask God for the seed to sow. Yet, the Bible says God is the One who supplies seed to the sower.
In our focal text, we see that God does two things when we pray. He supplies seeds and multiplies the ones we have sown for us to receive a great harvest. The New Living Translation Bible makes it clear: “For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you” (2 Corinthians 9:10, NLT).
The question is: Are you asking for seed?
