An Aggressive Approach
Jude 3; Ephesians 6:10-18
I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3).
The passage we read shows us the approach we need to take when contending for the faith. Jude said, “I am exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).
We are encouraged to contend earnestly. To contend speaks of hard and diligent work. It means it cannot be done passively. The Christian struggle is a continuous one. It requires an aggressive approach. David Guzik suggested three ways that we need to contend.
On a positive sense, we contend by sharing the word of God with all men through every means that we know. This includes teaching of the word, distributing tracts, use of the internet and the social media, supporting missionaries, pastors and teachers of the word.
On a negative sense, we ensure that we do not support ministries and individuals whose teachings are contrary to the truth of the word of God. We must speak out and against the apostates and their doctrines.
In a practical sense, we contend by living a life which demonstrates that we have the truth that is based on the knowledge of Christ. We contend wherever we are. Whatever our status in life is, there is something we can do. Jude’s letter is to all of us not all of them. Let us do our part. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Pray about your needs and that of your family.
- Pray for me and my family that we will be protected from the evil one. Thank you.
